Biography

Shawn has extensive experience advising individuals, families, and businesses on a wide range of legal matters. His practice focuses on residential and commercial real estate transactions, estate planning and administration, and corporate and commercial work.

In his real estate practice, Shawn regularly acts on purchases, sales, refinancings, and complex commercial transactions, providing practical, detail-oriented advice to ensure transactions close efficiently and with certainty. His estates practice includes the preparation of wills, trusts, and enduring powers of attorney, as well as advising executors and beneficiaries through probate and estate administration.

Shawn also maintains a comprehensive corporate and commercial practice, assisting clients with incorporations, reorganizations, share and asset transactions, and ongoing governance matters. He has significant experience drafting and negotiating shareholder agreements, partnership agreements, and related governance documents, with an emphasis on clarity, risk management, and long-term business planning.

He holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Alberta and a Juris Doctor from Dalhousie University.

Shawn is actively engaged in the community and currently serves on the board of directors of Riseup Society Alberta. Outside of his legal practice, he is an avid runner and guitar player.
