Laura is joining BARR LLP as a student-at-law and is keen to gain experience across a variety of practice areas.
Laura comes from a background in classical music, having worked as an opera singer and voice teacher, mentoring students of all ages for more than a decade. This experience enabled her to explain challenging concepts clearly and connect with people from a wide range of backgrounds.
Laura received her Juris Doctor from the University of Alberta in 2026. Prior to law school, she worked as a legal assistant in both family law and insurance defence, confirming her interest in pursuing a legal career. During law school, Laura was an active member of the University of Alberta Law Show, which raises funds for local charities, and gained practical legal experience working as a summer student.
Outside of the office, Laura continues to teach voice lessons and serves on the board of the Vancouver Youth Arts Society. In her free time, she enjoys gardening, skiing, doting on her two cats, and borrowing dogs for walks.
