Elwood (“Woody”) Johnson, K.C.

Non-Practising Lawyer

Admitted to the Bar:

  • Alberta, 1968

Biography

Woody is an Edmonton native who practiced law for 44 years. His clients looked to him for advice on real estate, corporate, commercial, wills and estates matters. He joined BARR LLP in June 2011 as a prelude to retirement from active practice.

Prior to retirement from practice, Woody had been appointed as a Justice of the Peace in Provincial Court. He held that position until August 2018.

All of his former clients have been invited to stay on with BARR LLP now that Woody is a non-practicing member of the Law Society of Alberta. He remains a member of the Edmonton Bar Association and the Canadian Bar Association. He has over the years served in numerous capacities both in the field of law and the community at large; he is past president of the Edmonton Bar Association, past chair of the Real Property Section of the Canadian Bar Association in Alberta, and a former board member of the United Way of Edmonton and the Edmonton Community Foundation. In the past, he has also lectured at the Bar Admission Course for articling students.

While he is no longer a practicing lawyer, those who wish to contact him may do so at his existing telephone number and e-mail addresses: 780-717-0038 and woody@woodyjohnsonlaw.com. He also retains his status as a Notary Public.

Woody’s current focus is on family, maintaining a respectable fitness at every level of life and travelling when circumstances permit. He still enjoys getting his elbows on the table and sharing a plate of food and a glass of wine with good friends.
